Thank you for your patience and understanding regarding the cancellation of Kate’s Race for Hope! due to hurricane Florence.  We have been working with Mecklenburg Parks and Recreation, along with our many vendors in an effort to find a date to reschedule the race.  Normally it takes about nine months to coordinate all the vendors, timekeepers, and other parties to a predetermined date.

Unfortunately, we were unable to find a date this remaining year that would accommodate all parties involved.  The only day we were able to find was a Sunday, and in keeping with Hope Cancer’s values, we prefer not to conduct major events on a day that most people have dedicated for church services.

We will be mailing the T-shirt and participation medal to your addresses next week.  Again, we want to thank you for your continued support of our ministry, and hope to see you next year at our 2019 Kate’s Race for Hope.

Kate Schultz Colon had a dream of having an annual race to support Hope Cancer. She wanted to see continued support for a ministry with a spiritual emphasis that offered real and eternal hope-not just cancer research. Kate died of osteosarcoma before we had our first race in 2004. Hope Cancer continues this race to honor Kate's memory as one of our volunteers who lost her battle to cancer but gained her home in Heaven. This race is for all who have been affected by cancer to understand the HOPE of Christ available to them.
